For the third year running Pam Lovibond arranged for us to have our lunch in the King’s Room of the Naval College.
From Our Own Collection - IvoriesThe focus this year was on medieval ivories. Our Curator, Annie, now in charge of not only the Ranger’s House but also Eltham Palace and Down House, gave us a fascinating insight into the world of ivories by previewing her forthcoming paper, which is part of a research project involving various institutions which have medieval ivories.
The Friends of Rangers House came into being in 1987 to support English Heritage in preserving this fine house (c1700) with its interesting history. At that time it contained the famous Suffolk Collection of Jacobean portraits (now at Kenwood House). The House now displays the fabulous Wernher Collection.
Ranger's House forms part of the Greenwich World Heritage site and the Prime Meridian line runs through the grounds.
